GREEK MYTHOLOGY
Themis was the wise and honest daughter of Uranos and Gaea. She was the goddess responsible for upholding right in human affairs. The scales in her left hand represented fairness. The sword an chain in her right were a symbol of severely enforced justice. Even Zeus trusted Themis' advice. She was also known as Urania. We know her today as lady justice and she can be found in a beautiful stain-glass rendering at the Greene County Court of Common Pleas (courtroom #1).
